US Silver Eagles are one of the most sought-after silver coins around the globe. The US Mint first released them through the American Eagle Program as the US official silver bullion coins weighing 1 Troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver and bearing a USD 1 denomination.
These coins also testify to the US Mint's high craftsmanship. They depict the legendary Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design and US Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti’s Heraldic Eagle design.
At SD Bullion, you can acquire 2010 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins purchased from the US Mint within 30 days of release. They are sealed and certified as MS-70 coins by PCGS.

The Design
The obverse reproduces Adolph A. Weinman's design, stamped on the 1917 Half-Dollar Coin. It displays "The Walking Liberty," in which Lady Liberty, enveloped in the American flag, walks toward the sun's rays.
The feminine guise has an extended arm in a welcome sign and carries oak and laurel branches in the other. It also features the word "LIBERTY," the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the year of mintage.
The reverse is imprinted with John Mercanti, Chief Engraver of the US Mint, illustration. The eagle carries the National Shield on its chest, arrows and olive branches in its talons, and a banner with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" in its beak. The stars above the eagle represent the Thirteen Original Colonies.
It includes the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR," which describe the coin's face value, weight, metal content, and purity.
A PCGS MS-70 First Strike Coin
PCGS—Professional Coin Grading Service—works independently from sovereign mints, appraising and grading coins from 1 to 70, using the Sheldon Scale according to their condition.
According to PCGS, “First Strike” refers to coins purchased from the US Mint within 30 days of its official release and submitted to its appraisal.
An MS-70 coin is a business strike coin that has never been in circulation and is flawless. That is why it receives a grade of 70, the highest score on the scale.
