The Design

The “The Walking Liberty” design, on the obverse design, showcases Lady Liberty folded in the American flag as she walks toward the sun's rays, carrying oak and laurel branches. The design is complemented by the word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of mintage.

The reverse displays the Heraldic Eagle with the National Shield on its chest, arrows and olive branches on its talons, and a banner with the inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM” on its beak. The Thirteen pointed stars in a triangular format over the Heraldic Eagle represent the original colonies. 

The inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR” describe the face value, weight, metal content, and purity data.
