The US Mint delivered the 29th strike of American Silver Eagles in the market in 2015. The first release of Silver Eagles happened in 1986, with the debut of the American Eagle Program.

Silver Eagles contain 1 Troy oz of 99.9% fine silver, a 1-dollar denomination, legal tender status, and iconic patriotic designs signed by legendary Adolph A. Weinman and John Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the US Mint.

The Design

On the obverse side, Lady Liberty is depicted walking toward the sun's rays with the American flag draped on her shoulder. She welcomes the new inhabitants with oak and laurel branches. The engravings accompanying the image are “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of issuance.

The reverse design showcases the Heraldic Eagle with 13 stars above its head, representing the Thirteen Original Colonies, the National Shield on its chest, arrows and olive branches on its talons, and a banner with the inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM” on its beak. 

The inscriptions encircling the Eagle read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR,” describing face value, weight, metal content, and purity.
