The Design

Lady Liberty has the same visual once idealized by Adolph A. Weinman in 1917. Liberty has been the nation’s feminine representation. The word “LIBERTY” is on the upper rim, the year of issuance is on the bottom, and beside, “IN GOD WE TRUST.”

The artist Emily Damstra signs the new reverse design, which gave the Eagle a natural version as it flies clutching an oak branch. The inscriptions found on the outer rim are: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER”. The motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is above the coin’s weight.

The American Silver Eagles Series

The program introduced the American Eagle coins in 1986. The first was the Gold Eagle, and the silver counterpart came in the same year.
