2013-W NGC SP-70 Enhanced Finish Early Releases 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coin 75th Anniversary Coin (Black Core West Point Label)
In 2013, the US Mint celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the West Point Mint.
The West Point Mint is one of the US Mint’s active branches, responsible for manufacturing American Eagles Proof and Uncirculated coins, American Gold Buffalo Coins, and some Commemorative strikes, like this one.
This coin is an American Silver Eagle with an enhanced finish, which means it exhibits a frosted background like a standard reverse-proof coin but with different design elements that have polished and frosted finishes. It was issued in West Point and bears the “W” mint mark.
SD Bullion offers the 2013-W 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coin with an Enhanced Finish, purchased from the US Mint within 30 days of its official release. The coins are graded as SP-70 samples and sealed in NGC Special Black Core West Point Label.

The Design
The obverse reproduces Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design imprinted on the 1917 Half Dollar coin.
Lady Liberty walks with the American flag draped on her shoulder and oak branches on her left arm. With her stretched right arm, she welcomes those who look for a home on American soil. The word “LIBERTY” is on top, “IN GOD WE TRUST” aside, and the year of mintage is at the bottom.
The reverse showcases John Mercanti’s design, in which the heraldic eagle has spread its wings around a star-spangled shield, carrying the “E PLURIBUS UNUM” banner, arrows, and oak branches. The thirteen stars above the eagle represent the original colonies.
The West Point mint mark is on the reverse side, near the olive branch carried by the eagle.
The whole image is surrounded by the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
Enhanced Finish
The Enhanced Uncirculated version, though not as reflective as a proof coin, has a brighter look than regular bullion coins and more visible design elements. They undergo a special polishing process called “burnishing,” which cleans the blanks from unwanted oxides formed during the annealing and rimming processes.
