The Design

The “Walking Liberty” obverse design features Lady Liberty walking toward the sun's rays, enveloped in the American flag, with oak and laurel branches in one hand and her other arm stretched. 

The image is supplemented by the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the word “LIBERTY,” and the year of mintage.

The reverse displays the Heraldic Eagle with the National Shield on its chest, arrows and olive branches on its talons, and a banner engraved “E PLURIBUS UNUM” on its beak. Thirteen pointed stars above the Eagle represent the original colonies.

The inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR” for face value, weight, metal content, and purity accompany the image.
