1921 PCGS MS-64 Morgan Dollar Silver Coin

The US Mint crafted Morgan Dollars, designed by George T. Morgan, from 1878 to 1904. They served as the official dollar coin then and contained 0.7734 ounces of silver. 

Production of the Morgan Dollar resumed briefly in 1921 before it was phased out, and in 2021, a special edition was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its last mintage.

The Design

The obverse depicts Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton balls and a tiara inscribed “LIBERTY.” 

The design includes the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies, and the year of issuance.

The reverse features the Bald Eagle with outstretched wings, arrows, and olive branches in its talons and laurels surrounding it. 

Additional inscriptions refer to the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
