Cull Peace Silver Dollars are a great addition to a junk silver collection for anyone wanting to enhance their investments. These 90% coins were minted from 1921–1928 and 1934–1935 following the end of the first world war. These coins are considered cull coins because of the flaws that are present. This is attractive for anyone looking to invest in junk silver because it still retains the value of the metal present as well as being sold for lower premiums than their undamaged counterparts.
The United States Mint has been in production since 1792 and struck these historic coins along with many others. The peace silver dollars specifically came from the San Francisco, Denver, and Philadelphia branches of the U.S. Mint, where Philadelphia was the first of the four current active mints in the United States. These coins were designed by Anthony de Francisci through a competition to create a design that memorialized peace.
On the obverse of the Silver Peace Dollars is modeled after the wife of the designer wearing the Statue of Liberty’s crown. The words “Liberty” and “In God we Trvst” are listed along with the date that is towards the bottom of the coin as well.
The coin’s reverse depicts a majestic bald eagle as the main focus for this side of the coin. Across the top of the coin are the words“United States of America”, and “E Pluribus Unum”. The words “One Dollar” are split by the perched eagle and beneath its talons, the word “Peace” is displayed.
