1921 PCGS MS-62 Morgan Dollar Silver Coin

From 1878 to 1904, the U.S. Mint produced Morgan Dollars, designed by George T. Morgan. These coins served as the official dollar currency of the time and contained 0.7734 ounces of silver. 

Production of the Morgan Dollar briefly resumed in 1921 before being discontinued. In 2021, a special edition was released to mark the 100th anniversary of its final mintage.

The Design

On the obverse, Lady Liberty wears a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton balls and a tiara inscribed “LIBERTY.” 

Included engravings correspond to the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies, and the year of issuance.

The reverse showcases the Bald Eagle with outstretched wings, arrows, and olive branches in its talons and laurels surrounding it. 

It also contains the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
