1921 NGC MS-63 Morgan Silver Dollar Coin

The 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar holds an important place in American coinage history. It represents the second time the US Mint issued Morgan Dollars as the nation's official dollar coin.

Morgan Silver Dollars served as the official U.S. dollar coin from 1878 to 1904 and briefly again in 1921. Designed by George T. Morgan, the coin depicts iconic symbols of American coinage: Lady Liberty and the Bald Eagle.

Today, you can purchase 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins at SD Bullion, sealed in NGC slabs and certified as MS-63 coins.

Coin Highlights

  • Evaluated, encapsulated, and graded as MS-63 coin by NGC;

  • Contains .7734 oz of silver;

  • Produced by the US Mint;

  • Holds USD 1 denomination and legal tender status;

  • The obverse depicts Lady Liberty in the Phrygian cap;

  • The reverse displays the Bald Eagle.

The Design

On the obverse, Lady Liberty wears a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton balls and a tiara inscribed “LIBERTY.”

Her bust is surrounded by the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies and the year of issuance.

The reverse features a Bald Eagle with outstretched wings, arrows, olive branches in its talons, and laurels surrounding it. The inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” and “ONE DOLLAR” supplement the image.

An NGC MS-63 Coin

NGC—Numismatic Guaranty Company appraises and grades coins independently from sovereign mints. It uses the Sheldon Grading Scale to rank coins from 1 to 70.

MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin produced in a business circulation sample format. Grade 63 indicates that the coin may present marks and minor visible hairlines but still have an attractive overall appearance.
