The Design
The obverse depicts Lady Liberty striding toward the sun's rays, enveloped in the American flag and carrying oak and laurel branches in her arm. She extends the other arm to welcome newcomers to the New World.
The design is engraved with the word "LIBERTY," the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the year of mintage.
The reverse portrays the Heraldic eagle beneath the stars, representing the Thirteen Original Colonies. The Eagle has the National Shield on its chest, arrows and olive branches in its talons, and a banner with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" in its beak.
The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR" denote the coin's face value, weight, metal content, and purity.
An NGC MS-69 “First Strike” Coin
NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company works independently from sovereign mints, appraising and grading coins from 1 to 70, using the Sheldon Scale according to their condition.
NGC calls “First Strike” the coins purchased from the original mint within the first 30 days of the official release and submitted to its appraisal.
MS stands for Mint State. Mint State coins are shaped as business coins that have never circulated. 69 is the grade attributed to coins whose flaws are almost invisible.
