Peace Dollars embody the peace environment and renewal after World War I.

They succeeded the Morgan Dollar as the official U.S. silver dollar with .7734 ounces of 90% pure silver. The U.S. Mint produced them from 1921 to 1928 and once more in 1934 and 1935. 

Italian-American sculptor Anthony de Francisci designed Peace Dollars.

These Peace Dollars, in particular, minted between 1922 and 1935, were sourced from a section of an original shipping bag and later appraised by the NGC.

The Design

The obverse depicts Lady Liberty’s  effigy, wearing a radiant crown inscribed “LIBERTY.” It also contains the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the year of issuance.

The reverse portrays a peaceful bald eagle resting on a rock, holding an olive branch in its talon. 

It is also inscribed with “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “PEACE.”

Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) appraises and grades coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70 based on their condition.

MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin produced in a business circulation sample format. Grade 63 indicates that the coin may present marks and minor visible hairlines but still have an attractive overall appearance.
