The US Mint celebrates the Semiquincentennial of the nation’s independence with a commemorative Silver Eagle edition. 

The 2026 Silver Eagle features a dual-date inscription and a Liberty Bell mintmark, highlighted by a refined proof finish.

These Proof Silver Eagles, in particular, were submitted to NGC appraisal and sealed in NGC’s exclusive America 250 Label, especially created to mark this historic anniversary.

The Design

The obverse portrays Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design, first used on the 1917 Half Dollar coin. 

In the image, Lady Liberty walks with the American flag draped on her shoulder and oak branches on her left arm. With her right arm stretched out, she welcomes those seeking a home on American soil. It is engraved with the word “LIBERTY” on top,  “IN GOD WE TRUST” aside.

The Liberty Bell, marked with the number “250,” is on the right, and at the bottom reads “1776-2026.”

The reverse depicts a bald eagle perched on a branch, representing America’s enduring spirit. Inscriptions describing weight, metal content, and purity read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “1 OZ,” and “FINE SILVER.”

The design is encircled by the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”

An NGC PF-69 Coin 

NGC, which stands for Numismatic Guaranty Company, operates independently of sovereign mints. It evaluates and grades coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70.

According to the scale, PF stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes. This coin exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. Grade 69 is assigned to coins whose flaws are almost invisible.
