2026 NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue 1 oz British Angel Silver Coin - Gordon Summers Label
The Royal Mint reimagines one of Britain’s most iconic historical motifs with a modern silver coin release.
Originally introduced in 1465 under the rule of Edward IV, the Angel coin derives its name from the image of the Archangel Michael, a longstanding symbol of strength, protection, and divine power. Throughout history, these coins were presented during royal ceremonies and were associated with healing traditions linked to the treatment of the “king’s evil.”
These coins, in particular, were shipped directly from the Royal Mint to NGC for grading and certification, where they were sonically sealed with a label signed by Gordon Summers, the world renown Chief Engraver of The Royal Mint. Only 250 of these signed coins will be offered.
Gordon Summers is a leading contemporary coin designer who has designed and engraved numerous coins and medals for the Royal Mint. Well known for projects like the 2024 Liberty & Britannia collaboration with US Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna, Summers is also recognized for remastering classic British coin designs for the modern era. His signature is a valued addition to a superlative coin design.
