Produced every year by the United States Mint, American Eagle Silver Coins are widely recognized and admired by experienced investors and collectors. As part of the American Eagles Bullion Program, these are the best-selling silver bullion coins in the United States and the world. The 1995 American Silver Eagle was the 10th edition of the series. It features the much appreciated design characteristic of all heraldic eagles. Besides the bullion version, the United States Mint also released proof versions from the Philadelphia Mint, bearing the “P” mint mark and a West Point Mint Proof coin in the 10th anniversary set, bearing a “W” mint mark. The 1995 American Silver Eagle had a total annual production of 4,672,051 BU coins.

The History of 1995 1 oz Silver American Eagle Coins

The American Silver Eagle Coins were initially produced in 1986, together with the first proof and the American Gold Eagle coin, with the objective of depleting  the silver stockpile of the National Defense. Over time, it became the most successful silver bullion coin program in the world.

The first proof variant of the American Silver Eagles, the reverse proof silver eagle, and the first Uncirculated (Burnished) Silver Eagles came out in 2006 as part of the 20th anniversary set. The high demand for high quality silver bullion, much like with gold, has meant that the silver coins have a polished finish in almost every year, with the exception of 2009 and 2010.

The design of the coins (1986 - 2021)

The design of the 1995 American Silver Eagle features traditional elements, keeping the pattern created by Adolph A. Weinman from 1916, when it was first used for the Half Dollar coin. With reeded edges, the obverse features the Walking Liberty. The Lady Liberty with open arms at sunrise, next to the phrase “IN GOD WE TRUST”. The word “LIBERTY” is printed near the upper limit of the coin and the year of manufacture (the mint year) “1995” at the bottom. The reverse side features a classic American symbol for freedom, crafted by John Mercanti, the bald eagle's coat of arms with arrows in the left claw, an olive branch in the right claw and open wings.
