1915-S PCGS XF-45 $10 Indian Eagle Gold Coin
The US Mint crafted Indian Gold Eagle Coins from 1907 to 1919 and then irregularly until 1933. During that time, these coins circulated as the US’ official $10 currency.
$10 Indian Eagle Gold Coins contain .48375 oz of actual gold and feature Augustus Saint-Gaudens' design with Lady Liberty wearing a Native American headdress, hence the coin’s moniker.
These coins were produced in the San Francisco branch and, therefore, carry the “S” mint mark.
Following the Gold Confiscation Act of 1933, numerous 1915 Indian Head Eagle Coins were seized by the US Federal Government, hoarded, or melted down because of their gold content, like other Pre-1933 gold coins. This resulted in a significant reduction in the availability of these coins in the market.
You can find 1915-S $10 Indian Gold Eagle Coins, sealed in PCGS slabs and certified as XF-45 samples at SD Bullion.

The Design
Augustus Saint-Gaudens depicted Lady Liberty on the front side, adorned with a feathered headdress symbolizing Native American heritage, with the word "LIBERTY" inscribed. The year of minting appears below Liberty's image.
On the reverse, a Bald Eagle is perched on an arrow entwined with an olive branch. The phrases "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" flank the eagle. The country's name, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," is on top, the “S” mint mark is on the lower left, next to the "TEN DOLLARS" denomination at the bottom.
A PCGS XF-45 coin
PCGS - Professional Coin Grading Service appraises and grades coins apart from sovereign mints using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranks from 1 to 70, according to the coin’s condition.
According to the scale, XF stands for “extremely fine.” The designation XF-45 means the coin maintains its integrity, displaying only slight indications of wear and tear on its images, wording, or texture. While certain details or edges may exhibit signs of use, the overall piece, or sections thereof, may feel smoother due to years of circulation. Nonetheless, its beauty remains undiminished, presenting itself in a close-to-pristine condition.
