2026 NGC MS-70 FIRST30™ 1 oz American Gold Buffalo Coin
The American Gold Buffalo holds the distinction of being the U.S. Mint’s first coin struck in pure 24-karat gold.
Launched in 2006, it entered the numismatic market as a tribute to America’s history and cultural roots. Designed by James Earle Fraser, the coin presents a stately Native American profile on the obverse and an American Bison on the reverse.
These coins, in particular, are part of SD Bullion’s exclusive MintCertified™ program.
SD Bullion’s MintCertified™ FIRST30™ program is an exclusive partnership with NGC. It guarantees that these coins were delivered in the original, unopened, tamper-evident sealed mint tubes during the first 30 days of the coin’s release. These MintCertified™ Sealed Tubes were only opened at an NGC depository, and each coin was individually appraised and graded, receiving the FIRST30™ label.
SD Bullion offers 2026 1 oz American Gold Buffalo Coins, certified by NGC as MS-70 FIRST30™ samples.

The Design
The obverse mirrors the classic Indian Head Nickel, originally issued in 1913 and designed by James Earle Fraser. It features a right-facing Native American portrait that blends characteristics from multiple tribal leaders, including Big Tree, Iron Tail, and Two Moons.
Along the rim appear the word “LIBERTY” near the figure’s forehead, the year of issue, and the artist’s initial “F” in the lower left.
The reverse presents a mighty American Bison standing in profile. Above the animal are the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” while “IN GOD WE TRUST” is engraved close to the bison’s muzzle.
Details about the coin’s weight, metal content, fineness, and face value are beneath the bison reading: "$50," "1 OZ .9999 FINE GOLD."
An NGC MS-70 Coin
NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company appraises and grades coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70, apart from sovereign mints.
MS abbreviates for Mint State and refers to coins crafted in the same format as a circulation coin that has never circulated. The highest grade, 70, is awarded to coins that do not present visible flaws.
