1879-S PCGS MS-63 Morgan Silver Dollar Coin
First released by the US Mint in 1878, Morgan Silver Dollars were the official $1 circulating coins, each composed of .7734 ounces of 90% silver.
They were named after their designer, George T. Morgan. They were produced at several Mint facilities, including Philadelphia, New Orleans, Denver, San Francisco, and Carson City until 1893, when the Carson City Mint ceased operations.
These specific coins bear the “S” mint mark, indicating they were struck at the San Francisco Mint.
SD Bullion offers 1879-S Morgan Silver Dollar Coins sealed in PCGS slabs and certified as MS-63 coins.

On the reverse, the Bald Eagle is displayed with outstretched wings, arrows, and olive branches in its talons and laurels surrounding it. The “S” mint mark from the San Francisco Mint is beneath the laurel wreath.
It includes the engravings “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
A PCGS MS-63 Coin
PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) is internationally recognized for appraising and grading coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale as a parameter. It works independently of sovereign mints, certifying coins from 1 to 70, based on their condition.
MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin produced in a business circulation sample format. Grade 63 indicates that the coin may exhibit marks and minor visible hairlines, but still retains an attractive overall appearance.
