The Morgan Dollar Design
Morgan Dollars were designed by the fourth US Mint Chief Engraver, George T. Morgan.
The obverse portrays Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton balls and a tiara inscribed “LIBERTY.”
It also contains the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies, and the coin’s year of issuance.
The reverse features the Bald Eagle’s depiction with outstretched wings, arrows, and olive branches in its talons and laurels surrounding it.
It includes the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
The Peace Dollar Design
The Peace Dollar was designed by Anthony de Francisci in 1921.
Lady Liberty was depicted on the obverse wearing a radiant crow. The engravings “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of issuance complete the image.
On the reverse side, the Eagle rests on a rock, holding an olive branch, representing peace. The accompanying inscriptions read: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “PEACE.”
An NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue coin
NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) is a renowned third-party service working in the numismatic market that appraises and certifies coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.
MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin crafted in the format of a business circulation coin. Since it has never been in circulation, the coin has no flaws, which grants it a 70 grade.
NGC considers “First Day of Issue” a coin submitted to its appraisal purchased from its original mint on the very first day of its official release.
