The Morgan Dollar Design

The fourth US Mint Chief Engraver, George T. Morgan, created the Morgan Dollar design.

The obverse depicts Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap enhanced with wheat and cotton balls and a tiara inscribed “LIBERTY.”

It also contains the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies, and the coin’s year of issuance.

The reverse showcases the Bald Eagle’s depiction with outstretched wings, arrows, and olive branches in its talons and laurels surrounding it. 

It also features the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR.” 

The Peace Dollar Design

Anthony de Francisci illustrated the Peace Dollar design in 1921. 

Lady Liberty was portrayed on the obverse wearing a radiant crow. The inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of issuance complete the image.

On the reverse side, the Eagle rests on a rock, holding an olive branch, representing peace. Further inscriptions read: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “PEACE.”
