The US Mint produced Morgan Dollars from 1878 to 1921, which are highly valued for their historical significance and refined design. 

Morgan Silver Dollars are named after their designer, George T. Morgan, the 7th US Mint Chief Engraver and one of the most popular coin designers worldwide.

These coins were crafted at several U.S. Mint branches, including Philadelphia, New Orleans, Denver, San Francisco, and Carson City, with minting operations in Carson City ending in 1893.

These coins, in particular, carry the “S” mint mark, identifying the San Francisco branch where they were produced.

The Design

The obverse portrays Lady Liberty facing left, wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton balls and a tiara inscribed with "LIBERTY." Her bust is surrounded by the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM," thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the year of issuance. 

The reverse depicts a Bald Eagle with outstretched wings holding arrows and olive branches in its talons, encircled by laurels. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed above the eagle's head, with the "S" mint mark from the San Francisco branch below it. The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR" encircle the design.
