1795 PCGS XF-40 “Off-Center” Draped Bust Dollar Silver Coin
The Draped Bust silver dollar is a US dollar coin minted from 1795 to 1803 and was reproduced, dated 1804, for widespread circulation into the 1850s.
These coins contain approximately 0.7738 troy oz of actual silver content and were designed by Robert Scot, the first Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint.
An "off-center" coin is the testimony of a mint error. It means that during the minting process, the coin blank (also called a planchet) was not correctly aligned between the dies when it was struck. As a result, the design is not perfectly centered on the coin.
Because mint errors are rare, combined with their historical significance, artistic design, and relative scarcity, they are one of the most iconic and collectible coins from the early federal period.
Today, SD Bullion offers “Off-Center” Draped Bust Dollar Silver Coins, graded by PCGS as XF-40.

The Design
The obverse displays Lady Liberty’s bust facing right, with flowing hair and draped clothing, hence the moniker. History says the image was based on a portrait by artist Gilbert Stuart, possibly modeled after socialite Ann Willing Bingham.
Further engravings correspond to the word “LIBERTY” above and the date of issuance.
The reverse of the 1795 Draped Bust dollar features what's known as the "Small Eagle" design, conceptualized by Robert Scot.
It depicts a relatively small bald eagle with outstretched wings, perched on a cloud, and encircled by an open wreath, distinctly composed of palm and olive branches, differing from the laurel branches seen on the previous Flowing Hair dollar.
Surrounding the eagle and wreath, read: "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."
The coin's edge is also notable, being lettered with its value: "HUNDRED CENTS ONE DOLLAR OR UNIT"
A PCGS XF-40 coin
PCGS - Professional Coin Grading Service is internationally recognized for appraising and grading coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.
XF stands for Extremely Fine. It describes a circulated coin with moderate wear, clear major details, and decent eye appeal, a solid collectible piece that shows it has been used, but not overly worn down.
