The Walking Liberty Silver Coin was issued by the US Mint from 1916 to 1947 to work as the official half-dollar coin in the US.

These coins are imprinted with Adolph A. Weinman’s famous Walking Liberty design, which is also the name of the coin. Decades later, the American Eagle Program rescued it to be the obverse of the US Silver Eagle coin.

The US Mint used to craft them using a silver-copper alloy, which contained 90% silver and 10% copper.

The Design

Adolph A. Weinman depicted Lady Liberty walking toward the sun’s rays, with the American flag draped on her shoulder, oak branches on one arm, and the other stretched in a welcome sign. 

The word “LIBERTY” arches over her, the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” lies on the lower right, and the year of issuance at the bottom.

The reverse design features the Bald Eagle perched on the edge of a rock, preparing wings to fly and carrying oak branches on its talons. 

The words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” are inscribed on top, “‘E PLURIBUS UNUM” on the left, and the coin’s face value of “HALF-DOLLAR” at the bottom.

The junk silver bag contains only the Walking Liberty Half-Dollar Coin produced in the US Mint facilities from 1916 to 1947. Although they may contain signs of wear and contact marks, they are authentic Walking Liberty Half-Dollar coins of varied mintage years.
