The Design

For the first time, the Australian Koala series showcases the effigy of the now Commonwealth Community leader, King Charles III. His Majesty’s portrait is a left profile bust encircled by the engravings “CHARLES III,” “AUSTRALIA,” and “1 DOLLAR.”

The 2024 reverse design shows a koala on a gum tree branch. It also contains the “P125” mint mark, which commemorates the Perth Mint's 125th anniversary, and the coin’s data regarding weight, metal content, purity, and year of issuance.

NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company is an expert coin appraiser that grades them using the Sheldon Scale and its rank, which ranges from 1 to 70.

MS or Mint State refers to a coin minted in the same format as a widespread circulation one. Grade 70 means the coin has no visible flaws.

According to the NGC, an “Early Release” coin corresponds to one purchased from the US Mint during the first 30 days of public availability.
