2021 NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue Morgan and Peace Dollar Silver 6-Coin Set - Joel Iskowitz Labels

Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars are silver coins of relevant historical value. They date to the late 19th and early 20th centuries and represent the American expansion to the West, industrial development, and international recognition after World War I.

In 2021, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the last Morgan Dollar and the first Peace Dollar editions, the US Mint released its first two-coin set containing Silver Morgan and Peace Dollars. The high acceptance of this set prompted the US Mint to create additional offerings, such as the 6-Coin Set of Morgan and Peace Dollars.

This 6-Coin Set, in particular, was purchased from the US Mint on day #1 of their official release, appraised by NGC, and sealed with Joel Iskowitz Labels.

Joel Iskowitz is one of the most skilled coin and medal designers in recent years, with over 50 designs selected for U.S. coins and medals. His creations highlight significant American figures and events, including designs for series like America the Beautiful Quarters, American Platinum Eagle, and First Spouses. Notable works include the 2008 Bald Eagle Silver Dollar obverse, the 2011 Medal of Honor Gold $5 reverse, and the 2012 Star-Spangled Banner Silver Dollar obverse. His contributions have left a lasting impression on American numismatic art, blending history and artistry in each piece.

Today, SD Bullion offers Morgan and Peace Dollar 6-Coin Sets, certified by NGC as MS-70 samples and sealed with Joel Iskowitz Labels.

The Morgan Dollar Design

The fourth US Mint Chief Engraver, George T. Morgan, was in charge of the Morgan Dollar design.

The obverse portrays Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap enhanced with wheat and cotton balls and a tiara inscribed “LIBERTY.” It also features the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies, and the coin’s year of issuance.

The reverse depicts the Bald Eagle’s depiction with outstretched wings, arrows, and olive branches in its talons and laurels surrounding it. It also contains the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR.”

The Peace Dollar Design

Anthony de Francisci illustrated the Peace Dollar design in 1921.

On the obverse, Lady Liberty wears a radiant crow. The inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of issuance complete the image.

The reverse depicts the Eagle resting on a rock, holding an olive branch, representing peace. Further inscriptions read: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “PEACE.”

An NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue Coin

NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) operates independently of sovereign mints. It evaluates and grades coins using the Sheldon Scale, a grading system that ranges from 1 to 70.

According to NGC, “First Day of Issue” refers to coins purchased from their original mints on the first day of their official release and submitted to its appraisal.

MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin crafted in the format of a business circulation coin. Since it has never been in circulation, the coin has no flaws, which grants it a 70 grade.
