The Design
The obverse portrays Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton balls and a tiara inscribed “LIBERTY.”
The motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies and the year of issuance accompany the image.
The reverse features the Bald Eagle with outstretched wings, arrows, and olive branches in its talons and laurels surrounding it.
It also contains the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
