1883-O NGC MS-64 Morgan Silver Dollar Coin - Great Montana Collection Label

Morgan Silver Dollars are among the most iconic coins in American history, cherished worldwide for their rich legacy and striking design.

The US Mint produced them from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921 as the nation’s official dollar coin.

Named after their designer, George T. Morgan, these coins were produced at several US Mint locations, including Philadelphia, New Orleans, Denver, San Francisco, and Carson City, until 1893, when the Carson City branch ceased coinage operations.

Those coins minted with the “O” mint mark were issued in the New Orleans Mint.

1883-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available at SD Bullion. They are certified as MS-64 coins and sealed with an NGC Special Great Montana Collection Label.

The Design

The reverse showcases the Bald Eagle with outstretched wings, arrows, and olive branches in its talons and laurels surrounding it.

It also features the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR.”

An NGC MS-64 coin

NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) works independently from sovereign mints, appraising and grading coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.

MS stands for Mint State, referring to coins issued in the same format as a business circulation coin. 64 is the grade given to coins with average luster, noticeable, light scuff marks, or defects but with attractive overall quality.
