In 1878, the U.S. Mint launched the Morgan Dollar, made of .7734 oz of 90% silver and designed by George T. Morgan as the nation’s official circulating dollar coin.
Production halted in 1904 but was briefly revived in 1921. A century later, in 2021, a special strike of the Morgan Dollar reignited its appeal as a highly sought-after collectible.

The Design
On the obverse, Lady Liberty’s left-profile bust is adorned with a Phrygian cap, wheat and cotton balls, and a tiara inscribed “LIBERTY.”
It includes the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies, and the year of issuance.
The reverse displays the Bald Eagle with outstretched wings, arrows, and olive branches in its talons and laurels surrounding it.
The motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR” accompany the image.
