Buy 90% Silver Washington Quarters
The 90% Silver US Washington Quarters AU/UNC - $10 Face Value are now available for purchase to SD Bullion customers. These coins are in better condition compared to circulated 90% silver quarters.
These coins date back to the pre-1965 era when circulation coins were minted using 90% Silver. 90 percent Silver Washington Quarters were struck by the U.S. Mint between 1932 and 1964. The inclusion of precious metals in circulation coins was discontinued by the Coinage Act of 1965 which removed all silver from the composition. These silver coins have become harder to find and treasured by collectors since circulation coins started being minted with nickel and copper.
One benefit of these 90% quarters is that they have a face value, so regardless of what the value of silver is, their face value will always have its worth. Circulated pre-1965 90% quarters may show signs of deterioration. However, these silver quarters are in AU/UNC condition, which is less common among coins of this age.
The obverse of the 90% Silver Washington Quarter is President George Washington's left-wing portrait. This portrait is based on a President's bust created by William Cousins in 1786. This image is still in use on the US Quarter, however it has been modernized over the years. Even still, this design has been used for the longest time of any design on a US circulation coin. Along with the depiction of our first President on the obverse of the quarter is the word “LIBERTY” above his head, the words “IN GOD WE TRUST” to his lower left, and the mintage year directly below him.
The reverse side of the quarter shows the iconic bald eagle image, clutched in its talons are the war arrows and the olive branch, representing peace. Along with the eagle is the imprint of the phrase “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, and the face value of “QUARTER DOLLAR”.
