The Roosevelt dime was commissioned in 1945, soon after the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. They went into circulation for the first time on January 30th, 1946, which would have been the President's 46th birthday.

Designed by John R. Sinnock, the elegant side facing portrait of the 32nd President of United Staes of America,  Franklin D. Roosevelt, takes center stage on the obverses of these coins. The words "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST" are imprinted on this side, followed by the year. The initials "JS" of them to the left of the year in the memory of John R. Sinnock.

On the reverse, we have an olive branch, which stands for peace, and an oak branch, which depicts strength, with a torch in the center and the words "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (out of many, one) inscribed across them. On top of the reverse side, you can see the legend of the name of the issuing country "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the face value "ONE DIME."
