The Design

The obverse showcases a ring of historic Mexican coats of arms surrounding the nation's current seal. The central design depicts an eagle perched atop a prickly pear cactus while grasping a rattlesnake, one of Mexico’s most recognizable national symbols. The inscription “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” encircles the design.

The reverse features Winged Victory, the female embodiment of freedom, standing atop the Independence Monument in Mexico City. In the background are the famed volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl.

Beneath the image, the inscription reads “1 kg PLATA PURA 2025 LEY .999,” identifying the coin’s weight, silver content, year of issue, and purity. The Mexican Mint’s mint mark appears in the lower right field.

An NGC MS-70 “Early Releases” Coin

Third-party grading services such as NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) utilize the Sheldon Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70, to evaluate coins.

According to NGC, the Early Releases designation applies to coins received by NGC within 30 days of their official release date.

MS stands for Mint State and denotes a coin struck in the same format as a standard circulation issue but never released into circulation. As a result, it displays no signs of wear. A grade of 70 represents a flawless specimen with no visible imperfections.
