2025 PCGS PR-70 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Reverse Proof Coin
Extremely Low Mintage of 1,500 Coins!
Collectors and investors alike have been waiting for the 2025 Silver Libertad release, but this year’s launch comes with an unprecedented twist.
At SD Bullion, we’re used to buying bulk quantities of new issues directly from world mints — but the Bank of Mexico has produced a historically small mintage of 2025 Libertads. The reason? The mint was still sitting on unsold inventory from prior years and adjusted production down to match. The result is one of the rarest modern bullion releases in history.
With supply scarce and global demand surging, collectors are already driving premium prices higher than ever before. This year’s Mint State, Proof, and Reverse Proof Silver Libertads — available in 1/10 oz through 5 oz sizes — are commanding massive premiums dictated entirely by the market. The 2025 Libertad is no longer just silver — it’s a statement piece for the ultra-dedicated collector, backed by rarity and worldwide demand.
The Mexican Silver Libertad is one of the most admired silver coins in the world, prized for its artistry, heritage, and extremely limited mintages. For 2025, the 1 oz Reverse Proof Silver Libertad carries forward the tradition of exquisite craftsmanship from the Mexican Mint while offering one of the most desirable finishes in modern coinage.
SD Bullion now offers the 2025 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Reverse Proof Coin, each graded PR-70 by PCGS.

The Design
The reverse features Victoria, the Roman goddess and Angel of Victory, spreading her wings in a stance symbolizing freedom. Her image echoes the 22-foot monument erected in Mexico City in 1910. Surrounding inscriptions read “1 ONZA PLATA PURA 2025 LEY .999,” noting the coin’s weight, metal content, year, and purity. The “M” mintmark identifies the Mexican Mint.
The obverse displays eleven iterations of the Mexican Coat of Arms. At the center is the current national seal, surrounded by ten historical versions. Each portrays an eagle in battle with a rattlesnake—an enduring symbol of Mexico’s resistance to foreign domination. The central emblem is bordered by the inscription “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.”
The Absence of Face Value
Although the Libertad does not display a numeric denomination, it remains legal tender. Its value is established by weight, purity, and the prevailing silver spot price, guaranteed by the Bank of Mexico.
A PCGS PR-70 Coin
PCGS independently evaluates and grades coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70.
“PR” denotes Proof, and in the case of reverse-proof Libertads, the coin features matte fields contrasting with brilliant raised elements. A PR-70 grade signifies a flawless coin with no detectable imperfections.
