Gold Britannia coins are among the most respected gold coins in the market.
They have a £100 face value and legal tender status guaranteed by the Royal Mint.
They contain 1 oz of 999.9 (31.10 grams) of fine gold and carry artistic and historical treasures in their design. 2025 is only the third strike of the new obverse design with His Majesty King Charles III.

The Design
Since 2023, Britannia coins have been displaying a new obverse design with the effigy of King Charles III facing left. Since King Charles II, each time a monarch ascended the throne, their coin portrait would face in the opposite direction of their predecessor.
Martin Jennings created His Majesty’s profile bust. The image is encircled by the “CHARLES III,” the coin’s face value of “100 POUNDS”, the year of issuance, and “D.G.REX.F.D,” which means “By the grace of God, King,” in Latin.
The reverse design traditionally displays Britannia, who has been portrayed as the feminine personification of Great Britain since ancient times. The image is Philip Nathan’s creation, dating back to 1987. It depicts Britannia as a warrior with a helmet, a trident, and the Union Jack Shield.
The inscriptions on this side read “‘BRITANNIA’ 2025’ 1 oz’ 999.9’ FINE’ GOLD.’” referring to the coin’s series, issuance, weight, purity, and metal content.
Security Features
The reverse side of the coins showcases a series of distinctive security features. As you tilt the coin, Britannia's trident transforms into a padlock in the lower left while the background waves appear to move. The micro-text engravings around the design, "DECUS ET TUTAMEN," serve as an ornament and a safeguard, representing the Mint's security measures to ensure the coin's authenticity.
