Gold Sovereigns have been around since 1817, when they began making their appearance across the globe in Britain's colonies. These Royal Mint Gold Sovereigns make excellent additions to precious metals portfolios -- diversifying them with pure gold, while collectors appreciate their historical significance.

Although Gold Sovereigns were first struck by the Royal Mint in London, branches of the Mint in the British colonies later began striking them to help with the added demand for circulation. The gold sovereigns you receive could have been struck during the rule of different monarchs -- hence, the varying obverse designs.

Each of these coins contains 0.2354 troy ounces of 0.9167 pure gold. Moreover, they feature face values of 1 sovereign -- i.e. £1 (GBP).

The obverse features the portrayal of the reigning monarch at the time of the sovereigns' striking. The monarch's name encircles the portrayal as well.

On the opposite side, the reverse displays the famed rendition of St. George mounted on horseback as he slays a dragon. This design was created by Benedetto Pistrucci.

These Royal Mint Gold Sovereigns will make grand additions to gold coin collections as well as precious metals portfolios -- diversifying and enriching them with an era long gone.
