The Design

The reverse features a 1973 The Rolling Stones font, created by Hannah Phizacklea. It displays the band on the stage, in a concert scene, with fans around them. The band’s name is on top, and the bottom inscription “‘62-’22” refers to the long years playing together. 

The image is encircled by repeated engravings regarding the year of issuance, the coin’s weight, metal content, and fineness on the outer rim. The information read: “2022 1 OZ FINE GOLD 999.9”

The obverse design consists of the fifth official portrait of former Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark. And it is the last time the series depicts Her Majesty’s bust. The engravings surrounding Her Majesty’s effigy read “100 POUNDS” for the coin’s face value, “ELIZABETH II,” and the letters “D.G.REG.F.D,” which translates to “By the grace of God, Queen,” in Latin.
