The Design

The obverse features the Mexican Coat of Arms and its ten previous versions. For some, it is a symbol of national superiority against foreign domination. The only inscriptions on this side are: “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.”

The reverse showcases a national symbol of its independence: the Winged Victory, which became a monument in Mexico City. The words engraved correspond to the coin’s weight, metal content, fineness, and year of mintage: “1 ONZA,” “PLATA PURA,” “2022,” and “LEY .999.”
