The United States Mint is proud to present the Anniversary Commemorative Coin Program. Celebrating
Apollo 11 and the first manned Moon landing on July 20, 1969. This coin depicts the efforts of the
United States space program. All coins share common designs and are curved.
Obverse: “MERCURY,” “GEMINI,” and “APOLLO,” inscriptios are separated by phases of the Moon.
Representing the efforts of the United States space program is the footprint left on the surface.
Additional inscriptions include “2019,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “LIBERTY.”
Reverse: The famous close up of “Buzz Aldrin on the Moon” was photographed July 20, 1969. It depicts
just the visor and part of the helmet of astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The reflection in Buzz Aldrin’s helmet
includes astronaut Neil Armstrong. The United States flag and the lunar lander are also engraved in the
coin. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “HALF DOLLAR,” and
“E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
