2011 1 oz Australian Koala Silver Coin
Among the best-selling silver coins worldwide, the Koala Silver Coin from the Perth Mint may be one of the most expected yearly releases among collectors and investors alike.
Since its debut in 2007, the Silver Koala Series has featured an exclusive design for each annual edition, making it an exciting collectible.
In addition, Koala Silver Coins are made of 99.9% fine silver, which means they may become an interesting investment option for those who desire to diversify their portfolios with hard assets.
And, despite holding legal tender status backed by the Australian government, they tend to be more valuable than the number imprinted as their face value. Because they are fine bullion pieces, they are worth their weight in silver, based on the current silver spot price.

The Design
The Koala is a native and popular animal in Australia, which got different depictions over the series strikes.
In 2011, Emily Martinson signs the reverse design, and instead of one, two koalas, which seem to be a mother and its cub, rest on a tree branch.
The series name, “AUSTRALIAN KOALA,” arches over the image, while the coin’s mintage, weight, purity, and metal content are on the bottom: “2011 1 oz 999 SILVER.”
The obverse design is Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait created by Ian Rank Broadley. The inscriptions that encircle Her Majesty’s right-profile bust read “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA,” and “1 DOLLAR.”
