1907 marks the premiere of the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin in the US. It substituted the Liberty Double Eagle as the official $20 coin from 1907 to 1933 for widespread circulation.
This $20 gold coin is named after its design creator, the renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Saint-Gaudens gave Lady Liberty a unique portrayal, which was reproduced decades later on the obverse side of American Gold Eagles.

The reverse features the Bald Eagle flying above the sun. The artistry is inscribed with “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TWENTY DOLLARS.”
