From 1878 to 1904, the US Mint regularly produced Morgan Silver Dollars to meet internal demand for circulating one-dollar coins. 

They were crafted again in 1921 and once more in 2021 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its last official minting.

Morgan Dollars carry its creator’s name. The fourth US Mint Chief Engraver, George T. Morgan, designed this coin inspired by America's westward expansion and industrial growth in the 19th century.

The Design

Lady Liberty’s profile, wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton balls and a tiara inscribed with “LIBERTY,” is imprinted on the obverse side.

It is accompanied by the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies and the year of issuance.

The Bald Eagle is depicted on the reverse, with outstretched wings, arrows, and olive branches in its talons and laurels surrounding it. 

The motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR” complete the design. 

A PCGS MS-63 Coin

PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) appraises and grades coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale as a parameter. It works apart from sovereign mints, certifying coins from 1 to 70, according to their condition.

MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin produced in a business circulation sample format. Grade 63 indicates that the coin may present marks and minor visible hairlines but still have an attractive overall appearance.
