The Design

The obverse features Lady Liberty in a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton balls and a tiara inscribed “LIBERTY.”

It includes the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies, and the coin’s year of issuance.

The reverse portrays the Bald Eagle with outstretched wings, arrows, and olive branches in its talons and laurels surrounding it. 

The image also displays the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
