1884-O PCGS MS-65 Morgan Dollar Silver Coin
Morgan Silver Dollars are named after their design creator, George T. Morgan, the US Mint's Fourth Chief Engraver, who was inspired by American industrial growth and Western expansion.
Morgan Dollars were dollar coins in circulation in the United States from 1878 to 1904 and reintroduced in 1921. Each coin contained .7734 ounces of silver.
The US Mint crafted them at various branches: Philadelphia, New Orleans, Denver, San Francisco, and Carson City, the latter of which ceased its coinage operations in 1893.
Those issued in the New Orleans Mint bear the “O” mint mark.
Today, SD Bullion offers 1884-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coins, sealed and graded as MS-65 samples by PCGS.

The Design
The obverse portrays Lady Liberty’s bust wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton balls and a tiara inscribed “LIBERTY.”
The motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies and the year of issuance are part of the artistry.
The reverse depicts the Bald Eagle with outstretched wings, arrows, and olive branches in its talons and laurels surrounding it.
Accompanying engravings refer to the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR,” and the “O” mint mark from the New Orleans Mint.
A PCGS MS-65 coin
PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) appraises and grades coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.
An MS-65 coin means that the analyzed coin has the same format as a business coin that still displays high-quality luster despite its aged mintage. Minor contact marks and scatters may be noticeable, but the coin has an overall quality above the average.
