The Design

The obverse showcases Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap enhanced with wheat and cotton balls and a tiara bearing the engraving “LIBERTY.” 

It also contains the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies, and the year of issuance.

The reverse portrays the Bald Eagle with outstretched wings, arrows, olive branches in its talons, and laurels surrounding it. 

The motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the “S” mint mark from the San Francisco Mint, and the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR” are part of the image.

NGC stands for Numismatic Guaranty Company. It works independently from sovereign mints, attributing grades to coins based on the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70.

MS means Mint State and describes a coin with a business circulation coin format. 67 is the grade attributed to coins with sharp strikes with full, original luster, some minor contact marks, and a single, more noticeable but not detracting mark.
