The reverse displays the Italian Coat of Arms, which consists of a crowned shield with the star of Italy atop, surrounded by laurels, and flanked by the coin’s face value. “L” stands for Lira, the official currency of Italy at that time at par with the French franc, and “20” for the monetary denomination.
