Each goldback is made from .999 pure gold paint applied to a plastic film to form a goldback note. The Utah Goldback, Nevada Goldback, and New Hampshire Goldback are all attempts to authorize gold-backed currency circulation in states where such legislation has been passed. Each state's businesses decide whether or not to accept goldbacks as a form of payment.
