CAC MS-70 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coin - Random Year

The American Silver Eagle stands as one of the most widely recognized silver coins in the world. First issued by the U.S. Mint in 1986, it serves as the flagship silver coin of the American Eagle Program.

Each coin contains one troy ounce of .999 fine silver and carries a legal tender face value of one dollar. Its designs celebrate American ideals, featuring Lady Liberty and the Eagle, enduring symbols of the nation’s heritage and founding principles.

At SD Bullion, you can find 1 oz American Silver Eagle coins of varying mintage years, graded MS-70 by CAC, randomly selected from our inventory for shipping.

Coin Highlights

  • Encapsulated and graded as MS-70 by CAC;

  • Contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver;

  • Bullion coin;

  • Produced by the US Mint;

  • Sovereign silver coin with government backing and a USD 1 denomination;

  • The obverse features the Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman;

  • Assorted reverse designs;

  • Of varied mintages.

The Obverse Design

The obverse displays the Walking Liberty, designed by Adolph A. Weinman, engraved on the 1917 Half-Dollar coin, and rescued by the American Eagle Program.

Lady Liberty walks toward the sun's rays, enveloped in the American flag, with oak branches on her left arm and her right arm extended in welcome.

Additional inscriptions refer to the word “LIBERTY” engraved on top, the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” aside, and the year of mintage at the bottom.

The Original Reverse Design

The first reverse design on Silver Eagles depicts John Mercanti’s Heraldic Eagle.

It depicts a heraldic eagle with wings outstretched and a shield adorned with stars across its chest. The eagle holds a banner in its beak, engraved with the words "EPLURIBUS UNUM," and grasps arrows and olive branches in its talons. Above the eagle, thirteen stars symbolize the original colonies.

Additional engravings read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”

The New Reverse Design

The reverse design was updated in 2021 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle Program.

The Bald Eagle, designed by Emily Damstra, perches on a branch with its open wings.

The inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “1 OZ,” and “FINE SILVER,” referring to the coin’s face value, weight, and metal content, separated by stars and the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

A CAC MS-70 Coin

Like other renowned third-party services, CAC (Certified Acceptance Corporation) appraises and certifies coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.

MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin crafted in the format of a business circulation coin. Since it has never been in circulation, the coin has no flaws, which grants it a 70 grade.
