The 2023 1 oz Silver Eagle Design

The obverse displays the famous Adolph A. Weinman's “Walking Liberty” design. In the image, Lady Liberty is the feminine personification of the nation. As she walks under the sun, carrying some oak branches in her left arm and the American flag over her shoulders, her right arm is stretched in a welcoming sign.

On this side, the word “LIBERTY” stands on the upper rim, the year of mintage on the bottom, and next to the image, the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST.”

The reverse depicts the third edition of the Heraldic Eagle’s new design. The artist Emily Damstra signs the unique reverse design released in 2020. 

The image showcases a more natural Eagle as it flies, clutching a large oak branch. On the outer rim, the inscriptions are: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER”, and the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is right above the coin’s weight.

2023 1 oz Silver Eagles Mintage

Among the varied coins that compose the American Eagle Program, the Silver Eagle is only struck traditionally weighing 1 troy ounce, unlike the Gold Eagles, which besides the 1 oz coin, have the fractional ½ oz, ¼ oz, and 1/10 oz versions.

Following the US Mint pattern, the 2023 Silver Eagle contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver, minted in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, and a diameter of 40.6mm (1.598 in).

The 2023 1 oz American Silver Eagles also received reeded edge variations as a security measure to avoid counterfeits.

The American Eagles Program

The American Eagles Program premiered in 1986. The American Silver Eagle and its companion American Gold Eagle soon conquered investors' and collectors' admiration in the bullion market.
