2025-W PCGS PR-70 Deep Cameo First Day of Issue American Gold Eagle Proof 4-Coin Set

American Gold Eagles are the official gold coin of the United States. Minted by the U.S. Mint, they are available in various sizes, bullion, and proof editions.

Proof coins are enhanced by their brilliant surfaces and intricately engraved designs due to highly polished dies and specially treated planchets. These coins were crafted in the West Point branch, bearing the "W" mint mark on the obverse side.

This coin set houses all four proof versions of the US Gold Eagles: 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz. They are graded by PCGS as PR-70 with Deep Cameo and sourced from the very first day of their release at the US Mint.

Today, at SD Bullion, you can acquire the 2025-W PCGS PR-70 Deep Cameo First Day of Issue American Gold Eagle Proof 4-Coin Set.

Product Highlights

  • Each coin set contains four Proof American Gold Eagle coins, for a total of 1.85 oz of actual gold content;

  • All coins, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, and the 1 oz Gold Eagles, are proof versions;

  • Encapsulated and graded as PR-70 DCAM coins by PCGS;

  • Produced by the US Mint;

  • Issued in the West Point branch and carries the “W” mint mark;

  • Purchased on day #1 of their official release;

  • Holds legal tender status backed by the US Federal government;

  • The obverse features Saint-Gaudens’ Lady Liberty;

  • The reverse displays the Bald Eagle.

The Design

The obverse, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, features Lady Liberty—America’s feminine personification—striding forward while holding a torch and an olive branch, symbolizing progress, peace, and enlightenment.

The design also includes the Capitol Building, the word “LIBERTY” at the top, the coin’s mintage year, and the “W” mint mark, all encircled by stars.

For the coin’s 35th anniversary, Jennie Norris designed the current reverse, portraying a close-up left profile of a majestic eagle with a hooked beak and an intense gaze.

It bears its face value, weight, and metal content, along with the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”

A PCGS PR-70 DC First Day of Issue Coin

PCGS - Professional Coin Grading Service, an independent entity from sovereign mints, appraises and grades coins using the Sheldon Scale, ensuring the highest quality standards.

PCGS considers “First Day of Issue” a coin purchased from its original mint on the first day of its official release and submitted to PCGS appraisal.

PR stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes. It exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. The expression “DCAM” or Deep Cameo means this contrast is deeper and more intense than in other proof coins.

Grade 70 is the highest given to coins with no visible marks.
