2024-W NGC PF-70 UC FDI 1/4 oz Proof Gold Eagle - Exclusive Ronald Reagan Label

American Gold Eagles are the official gold coins in the US. They are all 22k gold coins, holding legal tender status, and sharing the same patriotic design.

In addition to bullion versions, the US Mint produces Proof Gold Eagles for collection purposes weighing 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz.

This coin, in particular, is a 1/4 oz Proof Gold Eagle imprinted with a “W” mint mark, corresponding to its issuing branch, the West Point Mint.

The Liberty Coin Act of 1985 and the Bullion Coin Act of 1985, which grounded the production of American Eagle Coins, were signed by President Ronald Regan, who fiercely supported coin collecting and bullion investing.

Additionally, during his government, he issued a Presidential Proclamation, making the week of April 17 "National Coin Week."

Today, SD Bullion has in stock 2024 1/4 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins, among those purchased in the US Mint on day #1 of public demand. They are graded by the NGC as perfect PF-70 UC and exclusively sealed with a customized Ronald Reagan label, showing his facsimile signature and his portrait overlaying the Oval Office.

The Design

Lady Liberty, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and stamped on the obverse, marches forward, carrying a torch and an olive branch, symbolizing progress, light, and peace.

Completing the image is the word “LIBERTY” arching above, the mint year on the right-face of the design, right above the “W” mint mark of the West Point Mint. Encircling the design are stars representing the national states.

The majestic eagle from the reverse design, created by Jennie Norris, was depicted in a left-profile close-up with a hooked beak and a staring gaze.

The coin’s face value, weight, and metal content are engraved as “10 DOLLARS,” “1/4 OZ FINE GOLD.” The words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” are also present.

An NGC PF-70 UC First Day of Issue Coin

NGC—Numismatic Guaranty Company is a third-party grading service that uses the Sheldon Scale as a parameter to appraise and grade coins.

NGC considers “First Day of Issue” a coin purchased from the US Mint on the very first day it was made publicly available.

PF stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes, which exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. The expression “UCAM” or Ultra Cameo means this contrast is deeper and more intense than in other proof coins.

Grade 70 is attributed to coins that present no visible marks.
