The debut of US Silver Eagles in 1986, as part of the American Eagle Program, signified their introduction to the numismatic market.

Each Silver Eagle is composed of 99.9% pure silver, weighs a full troy ounce, and has a face value of one dollar. These coins symbolize the nation's fundamental ideals and feature remarkable patriotic designs by Adolph A. Weinman and Emily Damstra.

The Design

The obverse showcases Lady Liberty walking toward the sunrise with the American flag draped on her shoulder. She carries oak and laurel branches while stretching one arm, symbolizing peace and new beginnings.

It is also engraved with the word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of mintage.

The reverse displays a modern depiction of a Bald Eagle in flight, clutching an oak branch in its talons. It bears the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "ONE DOLLAR," and "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," as well as the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM."

An NGC MS-70 Coin 

NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company and other renowned third-party services work independently from sovereign mints to certify coins using the Sheldon Scale. The scale ranks coins from 1 to 70.

MS or Mint State refers to a piece with the same format as a widespread circulation coin that remained uncirculated. Grade 70 is attributed to coins with no visible flaws.
